Sailors Unloading Goods on Shore

An illustration that takes as inspiration the Namban paintings done by Japanese artists, of the landings of Portuguese ships and men. The stylized pants, poses, and fabric patterns are seen repeatedly in other Japanese Namban work as well. The work also centers the Black men aboard the ships, something no other Portuguese work does in showing the Japanese trade expiditions.
